During his visit to Yamunanagar, Haryana, on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged citizens not to forget the challenges faced under previous Congress governments, particularly frequent power blackouts before 2014. Laying the foundation stone for a power plant capacity expansion project, PM Modi emphasized the government’s focus on energy infrastructure and development.
“We shouldn’t forget the days of Congress rule. Before 2014, blackouts were a daily reality across the country. Had Congress been in power today, the nation would still be in darkness,” PM Modi said at the public event.
He underscored the central role of electricity in India’s journey toward becoming a developed nation, highlighting ongoing efforts across solar, coal, and nuclear power sectors.
“Electricity is going to play a very big role in building a developed India. That is why our government is working in all directions—be it One Nation-One Grid, solar energy, new coal plants, or nuclear expansion. We are committed to ensuring uninterrupted power to fuel growth,” the Prime Minister added.
Marking Ambedkar Jayanti, PM Modi paid tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, acknowledging his contributions to industrial development and social justice. “Baba Saheb saw industrial development as a key to social justice. He even worked closely with Syama Prasad Mookerjee to advance industrialisation in India,” he said.
He also praised Haryana’s progress under the BJP-led “double engine” government, noting the state’s industrial contributions in sectors like plywood, brass, and steel.
“Haryana is developing at double the speed, and that’s our resolve—Developed Haryana for a Developed India,” PM Modi said, congratulating the people on the launch of new infrastructure projects.
Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister laid the foundation for the new terminal at Hisar Airport and flagged off the first direct commercial flight from Hisar to Ayodhya, reinforcing the government’s commitment to connectivity and regional development.
